Patio Design & Installation
The Moen family had spent several years in their new home. The home was built quickly to allow a speedy transition before the weather changed. A few details were over looked as the home was nearing completion. A small concrete pad was poured close to the house directly outside the rear door. This plain slab did not encourage the Moens to gather and experience the outdoors.
The Moens received a recommendation to contact Stone Ridge Landscaping Inc. and see what our designers could create to solve this problem. After listening to Mr. and Mrs. Moen, our designer began formulating a plan that would expand the existing concrete patio. The design specifically addressed the lack of space and movement outside.
The first space created outside was a grilling and dining area. This area was positioned just outside the back door to allow easy access to the indoor kitchen prep area. The large dining area was constructed to serve 6-8 people comfortably. A pergola was built over the dining area to protect from hot summer sun and create a comfortable dining atmosphere.
The second area created, included a raised fire pit. This outdoor space was sure to
entertain many family and friends late into the night. An open wall flanks the outer edge of the fire pit patio. By adding the sitting wall, patio capacity tripled to 15 people. Now, the Moen's have plenty of room to entertain friends that stop by for an evening around the fire.
The entire evening experience is connected with low-voltage lighting that automatically illuminates the patios at dusk. The outdoor living experience has become enjoyable. "We are outside much more than before. We appreciate the work you put into this project." says Mr. Moen. The design and installation created a usable space that solved several problems facing this site.
